I have been using the product for over 3 years and it is amazing. It switches between my component inputs like a charm. I have my digital cable box, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DVD player, HD DVD player and computer hooked up and it works amazing.
Audio is component, optical, or stereo. What's not to like. It's not that I think this is the greatest device ever but since there was only one other review and he called it "frightently plastic and metal" (Dude, I'm sorry it's so scary to you)., I wanted to mention how great it's been for me. I currently use this to switch between my Wii, PS2, PS3, Dreamcast, Xbox 360, and cable box.
It looks great and does it's job very well.Pelican no longer makes this product but then try buying a two year old camera. Manufacturers always discontinue the current model when they make a new one. It does audio and video switching. It works perfectly. It has little plastic tabs that you can label and then they light up when you select that device.
Component video switching is the best quality but it will also do S-Video and composite. I'm happy I got mine when I did and it does exactly what I want it to do.
This switchbox, while feature-rich and versatile, is composed of frighteningly cheap metal and plastic. Spares are included, but the labels are not interchangeable, which may result in confusion with the very function designed to alleviate it. These panels are also unfortunately made of very cheap plastic, and break easily if removed more than once or twice. The black (or silver) version is very sharp in appearance, and goes well with most A/V home electronics in style and form factor. However, the plastic feels noticably poor quality, and the actual action of the individual switches feels weak and requires significant force to function. The front panel features cleverly removable panels, allowing the owner to reclassify each switch according to its function. At actual retail prices, this device feels far too overpriced for the quality control and materials involved, but it is a more than competent switching device, even supporting S-video, component video, digital audio, and ethernet switching. The most important thing to note is that this device is marked 'Discontinued' by the manufacturer, Pelican Accessories, and they will no longer repair or replace any parts on these devices.
