User Comments about the Intec Wireless Racing Wheel for Xbox

The wheel and the pedals work great. It was ordered on 12/7/07 in stock and arrived on 12/27/07, 2 days AFTER CHRISTMAS. However, never ever allow them to use USPS for shipment. It's a lot of fun and easy to hook up and use. It's best attached to a table in front of you. I was very disappointed for the person who didn't get a gift at Christmas.

I noticed through the transparent box of the wireless receiver that they'd welded in a component (capacitor) onto the circuit board. I saw it in a toys R us, looked good, so I took it home.I really should have researched it more.First, it kept losing its wireless connection. Anyway, that's just a theory, but it fits in with the rest of my experience).I really don't like to trash companies or their products.that is too easy to do. Of course, the manual didn't say a thing about what the flashes meant. I am too astonished now to even be mad about it.(I also noticed another thing that makes me think this wheel is cheaply designed and/or produced. I couldn't return it since I broke the piece in the back, and it couldn't get a connection no matter how many times I pressed the connect on the receiver and wheel. Bad batteries maybe.

The board is what is called surface mount, but the capacitor was through-hole.so that is the kind of patch you do when you make a mistake in the design and try to remedy it after your circuit boards are printed. So, I packed it back up in the box to go sit in my garage for, probably, ever, but I thought maybe I'd try it again sometime in the future. What does that mean. My advice is to find a better wheel, and pay more. But, as I was packing it, the brake pedal broke off. I bought this for my daughter. So my car spent most its races idling. So, right off the bat, pretty useless.

Even if it was 1 ft away from the Xbox (I moved it all around the living room), its wireless connection kept dropping through the game. I fear that it was my first and will be my last experience with anything Intec. But, I decided I'd be patient, and while waiting for it to find the connection again, I turned a lever on the back to lock the wheel (or something like that, I forget exactly what the lever was supposed to do) and it broke off in my hand. In fairness, I probably should have gone to the Intec website and do some troubleshooting, but I just didn't feel I should have to troubleshoot a wheel for Xbox. Couldn't get through a single race without the green connection light blinking (meaning it is looking for a connection). I am an amateur electronics hobbyist (I design my own circuit boards). The whole thing is built out of some kind of brittle plastic that acts more like a fragile ceramic. So, a little after I broke the lever, the red power light started blinking on and off, would go solid, then blink again. The manual was useless.really, just a pamphlet.

I changed them.same thing. I am not kidding. After about 1/2 hour, I just gave up. Maybe Intec has good products, maybe I just got one bad wheel in a million.but in my opinion, this particular product is a cheaply made wheel.

Even with his very good hand/eye coordination he couldn't make it work with his games at all. I bought this for my 10 year old son for Christmas since it was the number one thing he wanted. Things were bouncing all over the screen. It was cheap plastic and had to be set up in an very precise configuration to work at all. It was a piece of junk. It is overly sensitive. He asked me to take it back.

The steering for the first 10 - 30 degrees of wheel rotation was good but any more input gave a disproportionate amount of steering. Even with Traction Control and Spin Control active, I constantly was fish tailing and spinning out. I received this wheel for a X-mas gift from my wife and was excited about making my racing game experience more realistic.First thing I noticed upon opening the box was the brake pedal was broken off so I new I would have to return it. I tried the wheel on two X Box games; Indy Car 2005 and Sega GT 2002 online.

The wheel also has a very strong centering feature which caused me to put wheels off course when very slight steering correction was required. The "L" button embedded in the left side of the wheel was installed backwards and the vibration feature was so weak that it does not provide any valid feedback to the driver. The smell from the plastic/rubber used on the wheel made me nauseas and left that same smell on my hands each time I used it.I gave it 2 stars because it is comfortable and the wireless feature worked flawlessly. Steering wise it seemed to work ok on the Indy Car game because there are lots of wheel adjustments that can be made within the game. Acceleration was not as strong on either game compared to the standard X Box controller.

When I tried it on my favorite game, Sega GT 2002 online, it was disappointing.

Any one using a usual gamepad can beat you bad.You will wind up using the pad instead. This wheel is completely useless. Best wheel I have found is Madcats2, that is a perfect wheel with excellent response and is unbeatable except (if ever)by the most skilfull gamepad players or another madcats2 wheel. It is made out of cheap hollow plastic with awful turning control at the wheel turning characteristics which are not in the least alike to a real auto wheel. I too thougth that carrying an Xbox endorcement will ensure its quality, but that is not so at all. It resist turning to either side and its sensitivity to turning is a shame, horrible to say the least. Only problem is madcats2 is not wireless.
