I wish this item had been ordered at the same time I ordered the Force Feedback Wheel - the wheel has two clamps for steadying it on a table, but if you're not sitting at a table (who sits at a table to play video games) then you'll need the lap attachment.
Don't pay any attention to the negative reviews. I do NOT need to hold my legs together tightly. The center piece fits nicely between my legs and the side arms rest exactly on the top muscles of my upper legs giving it reasonable stability. This item works as designed. Sure it's not totally stable only because your legs can never be as solid as a table, but its good enough for a quick ride around the track. My only recommendation would be to wear pants that cover your legs so the plastic won't irritate your skin.Put it this way.on my first race with the lap attachment, I was able to win a very heated online race against 12 other drivers. While not a perfect solution, this attachment is better than nothing especially if you don't have a table nearby.
Impossible to find in France, this item is really a must-have to play car games on your PlayStation with a Logitech Driving Wheel in your lounge, where it's very rare to have a table that can be used to fix the wheel. Once attached on the lap attachment, you can block comfortably the steering wheel between your thighs and enjoy a very realistic playing.
You also must stabilize the unit by holding your thighs together as opposed to other manufacturers that drape over your lap. Poor design. The bottom of the unit where it connects to the steering wheel has uneven hard plastic pieces that irritate the thighs after using the system for a while. I guess in a way you can get some "thigh master" exercises at the same time your playing a game.
I can't squeeze my legs together for a whole race without feeling like Susan Summers. If you're looking for an exercise machine this is a good choice. But, (here comes a plug), if you want a stand that works then look for mine on eBay (racing wheel LapStand).
