User Comments about the Star Wars Lego I: The Video Game

Great game. Lego games come with SecuROM DRM. behold. My son and I have had fun with it. While investigating reasons behind my computer's tendency to reboot and/or freeze without warning. Thanks for screwing up my computer LucasArts.

You get to buy characters. The funniest part is the movie clips. I saw this game at my cousin's house. I decided to buy for my house.

These clips are like the movie. I cannot wait for Lego Star Wars 2. I enjoy this game. I have a good Nivda card that runs with no problems.

You get to play through Episodes 1-3. HIghly Reccommend this game.

Have not been able to use since our computer does not have the appropriate hardware (computer is 2 years old) so we will need to purchase an upgrade for the pixels for a mere $[.]. Needless to say, my son is very disappointed.HUGE waste of money.

I did a bit of searching on the internet and discovered the problem is deleting the file, SWLEGO.BIN, in the directory of the Lego Star Wars game and then the game will recognize the Xbox 360 controller.I have to mention the button mapping on the Xbox controller is slightly different between the Lego star Wars and Lego Star Wars 2 but it is acceptable and my son adjusted accordingly. Both computers are Pentium 4s and they are very very old system (desktop 2001 and laptop 2004). Desktop: 1.8 Ghz, 768 MB RAM, 256 MB VRAM Nvidia FX5500 discrete graphics card. Both games installed without problems.

The Lego Star Wars game was a bit different. Spend the $30-$40 for the wired Xbox 360 controller. Both Lego Star Wars and Lego Star Wars 2 are excellent games and I highly recommend them. The controller wasn't recognized properly on my laptop installation i.e. The intel integrated chip is limited in its capability. My desktop computer initially recognized the controller but I accidently selected default in the controller section (distracted by kids) and controls reverted back to keyboard. Both installed without issues. It did take a bit of time but the installations were without problems.

Having the Xbox controller certainly brings a new level of game play and control to the game. Both games were purchased for my older son when he was around 7 years old and he absolutely enjoyed the games. needed the immediate gratification. I had a flight joy stick that was recognized by the games and he used that to control the characters. If you have kids and plan on buying a computer, don't be cheap and spend the extra money on a dedicated graphics card.

keyboard control only for the desktop computer. This will save you and your child some heart ache. I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling the Lego Star Wars game but the same problem. You may find a used controller at your local Gamestop store.Last thing, my computer specs. My wife had concerns about my youngest son using the keyboard control and carpal tunnel (he didn't have the strength/coordination to use the flight joystick).

I just wanted to share some experiences that I had with both Lego Star Wars and Lego Star Wars 2. I ended up buying a wired Xbox 360 controller because I read that it was more compatible and supported more PC games. Laptop: 3.4 Ghz, 1GB RAM, 256 MB VRAM ATI 9800 Mobility discrete graphics card. I purchased both games some years ago so I'm not sure what the disk 1 issue is about from the other posts. Good luck. My 6 year old absolutely loves both games. Eventually he outgrew the game and I uninstalled the games from both laptop and desktop computers. My youngest son now is 6 years old and heavily into Star Wars so I reinstalled both games on the same laptop and desktop computers.

Better quality than a PS2 or PS3 controller. The Lego Star Wars 2 game recognized the 360 controller without problems and mapped the buttons without intervention. I have to mention the 360 controller was of good quality with a long USB cord. The keyboard control is confusing and not conducive to game play. only keyboard control was available. The wired Xbox 360 controller was purchased at a local retailer for $40 but Amazon had it on sale for about $30. The game would not recognize the 360 controller after that mistake. I'm running the game on lower resolution on both computers and they work fine.I'm considering the Lego Indiana Jones and Lego Batman games but have some concerns about the DVD emulator issue (copy protection) as I have an external DVD burner for my desktop and laptop.

The company support says, "Sorry, it doesn't always work on Vista.". My son plays this game at a neighbor's house and loves it. I bought one for our house and it will not work on our computer - which is new, has all the gaming "stuff" necessary, but runs on Vista. Funny, my neighbor has Vista and it works fine there.
