When I depress numbers I then have to depress the 'Enter' key; cannot use the down arrow key - like I would in an Excel spreadsheet. Targus Wireless Stow-N-Go Keypad AKP01USThis is a better than OK product, not great or fantastic. For some reason the left/right; up/down arrows do not work, even when I depress teh NUM LOCK key. I have to admit I am not used to using a keypad such as this.
I highly recommend against buying this item. The keypad skips numbers even with a fresh battery. It has brought me nothing but aggravation every time I attempt to use it.
Sometimes response to key presses are a little slow. It works as advertised. The transmitter is a bit tight to pull out of the storage space in the back. So I had to use extra force to get it out and I dropped it on the floor. One less cable to get tangled. The idea of wireless is attractive. But the transmitter size is very large and blocks access to neighboring slots in USB hub. Next thing I know, the transmitter stopped working which means the keypad stopped working.
This is rather frustrating, particularly when my ports are in short supply. This product does come with a USB extender, which is sized to more standard dimensions and will fit more comfortably with other devises in the ports. The USB receiver is both wide and fat, to such an extent a second USB devise cannot be plugged in next to it. I just got this product of the box and have noticed it comes with a distinct disadvantage. I've tested it on both side-by-side and top-bottom USB ports. Still, I'm disappointed that I need to use and handle wires in order to have this wireless devise perform optimally.
I have not had any of the problems described by other reviewers. I highly recommend this product.I will agree that the receiver that plugs into the USB port is a little on the fat side, and makes it a little difficult to use my second USB port, although not impossible.I'm not sure why people were sitting 3 feet away from their computer using their keypad - I usually have it on my desk next to my laptop, or I sit back in my chair with the keypad in my hand. The only time I had problems with it picking up what I was typing was when the battery was low. I changed the battery and the problem was solved.
