The gore could have been better, but what's here is pretty good.MUSIC: The music is pretty good, but it could have better. This is the ultimate Evil Dead game and it plays great.THE GOOD: Funny characters, good graphics, decent music, lots of gore, interesting weapons, unlimited ammo, and an interesting storyline.THE BAD: Gameplay can be a bit repetitive, save points are sometimes too far apart, sometimes characters are annoying. Now the good parts. You can kick him onto an enemy, and he'll pull off their head or keep them distracted while shoot them because some enemies can't get killed without Sam attacking them. This game also perhaps contains one of the best allies you'll have in a game, Sam. I love the Evil Dead movies, and I even like the games, something that can rarely be said about licensed games.
So Ash and his half Deadite sidekick Sam must stop this evil force, save the world, and uncover the secrets behind this outbreak in this really gory and really fun game.GRAPHICS: Textures are sloppy but the environments and character and creature designs look good. You can also possess Sam so he can help you open certain doors and other obstacles.
This is another one of those licensed games that didn't get as much attention as it truly deserved.WHAT THE GAME IS: The protagonist Ash finds himself in a mental hospital still ranting and raving about the Book of the Dead and the evils within, and once again someone has read from the book and legions of demons/zombies called Deadites have been set free to roam the Earth. You won't fail at all, he just gets killed and comes back in hilarious ways.
Puzzles are also interesting and can be difficult to solve at times. He maybe annoying as hell sometimes, but he can get killed numerous times and he'll just respawn.
In this game you only start out with a revolver in the beginning, then you get your trademark shotgun and chainsaw which adds more fun and gore, then eventually you get a device that shoots out a cable that pulls an enemy to you so you can shoot them as they are impaled on the cable. It knows how to set the mood, but it's nothing spectacular.SOUND: Shooting, chainsaws, voice-actors like Bruce Campbell (The protagonist from the movies and games who plays Ash), Sam Raimi's brother Ted Raimi stars in this game as your ally Sam, and the other actors are pretty good.GAMEPLAY: I'll get the bad parts out of the way, this game can get repetitive at times and save points shouldn't be spread out that far.
Chopping and shooting the Deadites is good gory fun that's difficult to put down. Boss battles are nothing special though.OVERALL: This game is definitely worth a look, especially if you're a fan of the movies.
Hail to the King, this game was fun. Something you can play over and over again and I love that there's infinite ammo. And of course having Bruce Campbell voicing Ash makes it even better.
One of the better things about this game is that Ash actually looks like Bruce Campbell, and he didn't really have that look on the previous game. This is definitely the best out of the three Evil Dead games, and I liked Fistful of Boomsticks. The extras that are unlockable are also worth seeing, even though you have to find them throughout the game. It makes for a great action title, and a real fun treat for fans of the series. The story is better, Ted Raimi co-stars as Sam, and the problems that Fistful had are fixed in this game. Ted and Bruce are great, and the dialogue they exchange is priceless. Overall, this is a game you must play if you are a fan, because it is the best and it gives me hope for the next one.
This game is a blast to play, you have Bruce Campbell cracking one-liners, and of course you kill deadites with a chiansaw and shotgun, what more could one want.
In this adventure he's joined by a half-Deadite named Sam (voiced by Ted Raimi, brother of director Sam Raimi; Sam is dead, but he still has his soul. Besides, with Sam around, the dialogue of the game isn't as one-sided as it usually is-instead of monologues we are offered comedy sketches with two people.Along the game, there are various pages of the Necromonican that Ash and Sam can collect. Some of the stuff is informative in a trivial way, and some of the news is now outdated (what Bruce does in SPIDER MAN II, for instance). After the prologue, the game has an introductory segment that allows the gamer to get used to the various controls. The graphics of the game are a little better than in BOOMSTICK.
There's also a giant floating, phantasmic head of the original doctor who found the Necromonican who dispenses with sage advice now and again. These are a real treasure on the game. Some of these are art concept sketches and paintings, but the majority of them are short videos with Bruce Campbell. I mean, there are times you have to punt Sam, put Sam on fire, and have him ride a troll-like Deadite that ends up ripping off his head. This segment actually takes places in the cabin in the woods. In EVIL DEAD: REGENERATION the game begins with a short prologue explaining about how Ash and his friends stayed at the cabin in the woods, discovered the Necromonican, and brought forth the evil that raised the Deadites. No one, that is, except a beautiful blonde woman named Sally.
However, for fans of the series or fans of Bruce Campbell, the game is very entertaining. After this, the storytelling begins as Ash explains how he was convicted of murder and ended up in a sanitarium (Sunny Meadows) because no one would believe his story. There are 20 of these in all and they unlock various treasures. Reinhard is a mad scientist and ends up stealing the book, kidnapping Sally, and transporting himself to an alternate dimension to raise an army of evil that he can use to conquer the world.Ash's job in the game is to get back the book (hopefully to destroy it), rescue Sally, and stop Reinhard. Also, with the addition of Sam, the action of the game is more interesting and fun.
Together Ash and Sam have to battle their way out of Sunny Meadows and through the country surrounding the place, closing portals that Reinhard has opened. At Sunny Meadows, one of the chief doctors, Vingo Reinhard, spends his time using the Necromonican to perform ghastly scientific experiments. It's a crappy job, but somebody has to do and who better than the chain-saw wielding hero, Ash.I've now played both EVIL DEAD: REGENERATION and FISTFUL OF BOOMSTICK and of the two, EVIL DEAD: REGENERATION is the one I like more. However, all of these segments, even the outdated ones are entertaining.For gamers who aren't familiar with the Evil Dead series, EVIL DEAD: REGENERATION doesn't offer much more than the typical video game.
