User Comments about the Sim City 4 Deluxe (Mac)

I have more than the recommended minimum requirements. Will not run on OS 10.4 or 10.5, customer service and website could not help me. What a waste of money. Runs for 5 minutes and gets slower and slower and slower and then freezes. Do not buy if you plan on running it on a Mac.

I would agree, I have no problem with the game, but I am running a G5 PowerMac.The problem with this is that most people with a high-end G4 PowerMac or above that can use this game have already upgraded to OS 10.5 Leopard. At the same time, it adds great detail and motion that the old Macs could never acheive. I love this game. And this game will not work on 10.5 Leopard. Just a few keys and the mouse. It brings out the best of the old game I played on my Mac Plus. The box actually recommends a G5 iMac or PowerMac. You must use 10.3 or 10.4, I had to load 10.3 on an external HD.

But not everybody has the time, money or know-how to do this. It also manages to modernize and add some more options without the need for the above mentioned extra button work. Now the bad news, The box says it can be used with a G4 700MHz Mac or above. It keeps the play simple, which is great because I have never been able to keep up with games that demand multiple button play. Most reviews and my experience say that it takes more power to enjoy the game. Please also note that this is not a Universal Binary game, so it will not work on any Intel-based Macs of any kind.

Hour & hours of frustration. I thought it would be more fun than this. I put the game away. I thought I could make my own buildings, etc. I was wrong. But that is not true. I couldn't even figure out how to add the city to my Sims 2 game that everyone brags about:(

The game still runs slow even with the patch released. Recently I got a mac and found out that there was also a mac version, so I bought, installed it, and was EXTREMELY disappointed. Sim City 4 is an awesome game, I've been playing it for years on my pc and would play for hours. There are tons of bugs in the game, some graphics flicker a lot and there is a huge delay time between when you click a button in the game and it actually does what you want it to do.it's very frustrating, even with all the visual effects on their lowest performance possible, the game still runs unbelievably slow and is not worth 60 dollars AT ALL. I'll be playing this game on my pc and returning the mac version.

This is an awesome game, but it STILL does not work on the newest operating system (OSX 10.5); it is slow and it crashes. IF you have an older mac system, this game is great. If you have a newer system, do not waste your money until they release an update for Leopard.
