User Comments about the World of Warcraft

The colors of take me out of the experience but not enough to take away the fun. This game has A LOT of pieces, and you will use every single one of them. I am an avid Warcraft fan, I play Warcraft III and World of Warcraft. 1st play through was 6 hours with full group, the next few after that were around 5 hours. This was the logical next step for me. I also read the books, and all the fan fiction I can find. If you have 2-5 friends that you want to spend the day playing a really fun and deep game with some fairly omplicated game mechanics involved then this is for you.Quality of the board and artwork are top notch, the player pieces and monster models are fair quality, but not great. I am ready to start playing with expansions, so I will be looking at the Burning Crusade expansion first.J.Vaughn

A four person game takes about 6 hours to play unless you all know the rules. Fans of old classics like Talisman should enjoy this game. You don't have to play the online game to understand the basics of the game, though the names for talents/items/etc come straight from the online portion. My group found the game to be a good replacement for a nightly RPG session when you are missing people or don't have enough time to prepare a decent RPG.

Takes about 4 - 6 hours for 2 - 6 players to complete. But for what you get, and the outstanding quality of the pieces and components, it is a fair price. World of Warcraft boardgame seems at first to be ultra-expensive. It's a great game. Great companion to the on line game.

Combine this with one "slow" player or a "tactically slow/meticulous" player and you could find yourself waiting in excess of 20 minutes for a turn to come up. The game is great from the standpoint that you incorporate RPG elements in "building" your character. The WOW board game is a well put together game overall, and relatively fun to play. The beginning of the game moves quickly, but as the mechanics stay the same and the game does not mature with the character progression, the game is doomed by folks waiting on line for a turn. the game drags you along for a 4+ hour ride. at first.I'm not going to rehash the points made by the other reviewers, as they are valid, but the overall experience is what leads me with a middle of the road review. VERY repetitive, despite the various quests.Eventually it becomes not much more than a turn-swapping, roll massive amounts of dice ordeal. It almost seems as if the game can be played independently from the other players save when a PvP element is introduced into play.

Based on this standpoint, luck is often the determining factor in who is the victor (who drew the better cards, strategy aside). So it's good, it's long, and then it gets strained. At first, it is relatively enjoyable. the quests and items all lend a distinct flavor to the game, but the mechanics of the game are what drag down the rating. From a fun factor standpoint (which is why we play GAMES, no). but eventually the game wears thin and gets repetitive. and eventually the strain saps the fun out a promising idea.

They are well sculpted but many were badly molded and trimmed. I didn't find it particularly enjoyable. WOW has better rules, but Arkham Horror is far more fun (subjectively speaking, that one still takes forever too but I enjoy it much more). For the price, the minis should have been painted. Just play the computer game.

If you like games with those values, it is a good game. For as many as there are, they were straight forward and easy to understand. This game is long, contains hundreds of little cardboard bits (but not enough of certain ones), and has way too many rules. Only quests give you anything and blue monsters aren't associated with quests, so everyone avoids them and they become pointless roadblocks everywhere.

The Wizards minis are farm better quality. One thing that really needs to change is the way the blue monsters are handled. But good mechanics do not change the tedious nature of the game play. The rules are VERY well crafted, there were no "rule says this, no it doesn't" fights.

We spent 6 hours playing the 30 rounds of the game, and I left before the PVP section started. This game is made by the same company that did Arkham Horror, and they are rather similar.
