Being able to use the PS2 controller is a far better option, and this peripheral does the job nicely. Games that use the triggers a lot, however, I stick with the Xbox controller. This is a great peripheral overall. In other Xbox exclusives (particularly ones that don't use the triggers too much), this peripheral and the PS2 controller are my preference. This is a great product.
If you've ever wanted to play Xbox-exclusive games with the far superior PS2 controller, this is the peripheral to buy. See, Xbox controllers use analog triggers as the shoulder buttons, whereas on the PS2 controller it just uses standard buttons. It works completely as advertised. All the other buttons work perfectly. It's a nice novelty to play games like Halo with a PS2 controller. The Xbox was a great console, with powerful hardware and great games.
It still works OK, but you get much better results playing games which don't rely as heavily on the triggers. Something is lost in translation. There's only one major flaw with it, but it's not even a flaw in the actual peripheral. The shoulder buttons aren't quite as responsive for this reason. The one problem I've had with the Xbox, is I haven't been able to find a perfect controller for it.
The only problem I've seen is that the Xbox shoulder buttons are pressure sensitive and PS2 shoulder buttons really aren't, so if you were playing actually Xbox games with this you may run into problems. The converter is a great accessory. but thats really no fualt with the converter. Old NES, SNES and Genesis games just don't work well with the Xbox controller for me, but they're great on a PS2 controller. It works just like it should, just plug it and you're done. I mainly got it because I enjoy playing classic games on my Xbox. No mapping buttons or anything else. For my applications, its fine.
Converter works very well for wired controllers, but wireless controllers seem to confuse it and it functions poorly with them.
This product works good the only problem is that using ps2 controllers its not pressure sensative like xbox and that when firing your gun in halo for example its like burst fireing so its a little slow and you cant lock on with rocket launcher since you cant do half trigger. But other wise they work great
it's kind of ugly, though. it's inexspensive, works fine, and built strong. i've stept on it many times and that has done no damage. there is a red light that turns on when it's plugged in which is nice
