Detail is vastly improved, realistic looking playing surfaces, grass, etc. I believe the big dissapointment was the 2000 version, but subsequent years were good. It's better than ESPN football because the graphics are way better (on a good video card) and the gameplay is more realistic. But without a doubt this is the best football sim out there. But for now, it's the best thing and vastly improved over previous years. ESPN football takes second place. The gameplay is smooth as silk, the running, tackling, catching, tackling is more realistic than any other PC sim.
Many of the small details I was very impressed with. I don't rate advanced features too much, I'm talking mainly about your basic gameplay. Now if you set up good blocks, and get a gap down the field, you can run it all the way. Honestly, this is the best PC sim ever made.
So after getting tired of playing the old games, I enjoyed ESPN Football 2004 & 2005. Or at least have a nice run back. I gave up on Madden back on the 2005 version (which totally stunk). Even after I tried some of the older versions I liked on PC, they were not the same for Xbox. They improved the graphics of course with newer versions especially 2003 & 2004. I had liked pretty all the versions from 98 on with a couple exceptions.
Hopefully Madden will make a great football game this year for the Xbox 360 that can compare to this. Running offense, defense, special teams, etc and not being agitated by annoying things (that were filled in the 2005 version).
But unfortunatly Madden did not make a good game for the console. But I finally decided to try the 2007 version.
But after reading nothing but bad things each year about the new Madden football, I held off on buying any more Maddens. And they finally improved kick off returns which up to this version were impossible in Madden, no matter what you did.
If you play it on an older computer though without a good video card, you will get a false impression. I played those games for a couple years.
The processor speed, memory, and video card make a difference (to make this the game experience it was meant to be). I would really like to play it on my high definition TV.
Outstanding graphics, better controls, more indepth stats. Great game. We have Madden '03 for the Nintendo GameCube and like it, but '07 is worlds above. My nine year old son and I have tournaments and he's really starting to understand and like football because of this game.
But The Sideline Players Look Unreal. Over A Month Ago, I Created A HB On Superstar: Hall Of Fame Mode. I Bought Madden 07 This Last March. Another Thing Is The Music. In my 6th Regular Season Game, I Returned A Kick 94 Yards For A Touchdown Against The Chargers. It's A Great Game. The Graphics Have Improved Since 2006. I Like Most Of The Songs, But Some Of Them Aren't Very Good In My Opinion.
I Think Madden 07 Is The Best Football Game You Can Get. Earlier I Played Franchise Mode With The Raiders. I Am Getting Really Good At HB. It's Fun, But It's Not Really My Thing. So If You're Looking For A Good Football Game, This Is The One You've Been Looking For.
I don't get a Madden every year however, I think that this is the best one I have played so far. I especially like the changes from my last version, 03. The Franchise mode is much better and the nfl superstar is a lot of fun and seemingly very realistic.
Very good game overall, the only thing I don't like is the view when playing on hall of fame mode.
