For all of my game systems, I usually search for a compact way to store my games together. The loosening of the fittings will eventually cause the case to hold less well when tossed or otherwise subjected to sudden jolts. I actually own 3 of them at this point to hold my game collection so that I don't need to open two dozen game boxes to rearrange what I'm taking with me.The only flaws that you might worry about in the case are: 1) the friction fitting for the DS games will get worse over time and 2) you pull games out by the connector end. When I got a DS, I of course began a similar search. After looking through most of the cases available on Amazon and elsewhere, it seems as though this is the only case which holds a reasonably large number of DS games (8) in a form factor compact enough to fit in a pocket. The pulling out by the connector end may cause some people to be taken aback, but in the three years that I've been using this case (and its DS fat predecessor) I've never had any issue.
Since I use an Action Replay, I can store it in the battery section on the lower right. I'm very pleased with this case. It actually holds the number of games displayed. A little difficult to open at first, but once you figure it out, great.
The game case is made of the cheapest plastic possible and does not close easily because the injection molding process was so poor. So I read the reviews before buying this and should have listened to them. This makes it difficult to open and I think the hinge will wear out inside a couple months. It is of exceptional quality and costs about what the storage case I am reviewing cost. First I should mention I have the Intec case for the DS system that has a hinged top and a rubberized interior and spring latch to close. So naturally I thought that these cases would be of similar construction, here I was wrong. Also, since it is not available from Amazon currently, only it's resellers, the return shipping will cost me as much as I paid for the item so I am stuck with it.
I haven't had the problems others have said about the games getting stuck or being hard to get out. This case is mainly for the regular DS, not the DS Lite.I have a DS Lite, so the battery is a little different than the battery for the regular DS. Right now, they seem pretty strong, so I'm not anticipating them dying any time soon.Except for the problems noted above, it's a pretty good box for the price. It holds 8 DS games, 3 GBA games, an extra DS (or DS Lite) battery, screwdriver and extra regular DS stylus. The DS Lite battery does fit in the case (although when I opened it for the first time, I didn't think it would). This isn't a problem right now, but over years of use, I could see it splitting. There is a raised plastic outline that is supposed to hold the battery extra securely, but since the DS Lite battery is smaller, it is just held by two clips, rather than the entire outline.
It's just one of those solid bending plastic hinges. So, my extra DS Lite stylus DOES NOT fit. The DS Lite stylus is a little longer than the DS stylus. I'm sure I could trim my stylus down or get an extra regular DS stylus somewhere, but I'm not getting the DS Lite stylus in this sucker. The box doesn't have a hinged connection. They are held firmly, but not too firmly.I'd still recommend it more than most of the other cases I've seen.
So before I gave the case to my granddaughter I rubbed some bar soap on the two corner tabs and it opens and closes very easily. I like it and she really likes it. I bought the case for my granddaughter. I wish this case was just a 16 game holder for the small games. It won't fit. She is 6 yrs. As for being hard to open and close, it was. That would be very nice.
Overall I am happy with this. This is the stylis that came with the Nintendo DS as a spare. We got out our spare stylis and tried to pop it into the stylis spot. So now we can't have a spare in this case box. All the games will be in one place and clean.
