Editorial Reviews:

The SteelSound 5H v2 is an optimized version of the original SteelSound 5H headset. This headset features improved microphone quality, a longer microphone cord, bigger (and more comfortable) ear cushions, additional frame pressure and numerous other technical design improvements.

User Comments about the Steel Series SteelSound 5H V2 Headset ( 20065 )

Footfalls and weapon cycling are very distinct. The microphone is adequate and the fact that it retracts is a nice touch. This headset is really comfortable for long sessions of gaming. The GREAT thing about this headset is the built in med-high range sound amplification. For anyone who is a serious FPS gamer, this is life or death.Music and such sounds fine, however this is not the set I would buy if it was for music/movies only.

This headset rocks and what more can I say. They work great and are holding up great no problems at all.

Bass might not be as powerful as some people might want. Pros: Great sound, very durable (I've had mine for half a year, and they have fallen over a dozen of times and still work perfectly). Might be expensive for some.Other Thoughts: The quality of the sound is very good compared to other headphones of the same price. They might cause slight headaches for prolong use if you happen to have a big head. The microphone is surprisingly good.Cons: The volume doesn't go as high as some headphones do but it goes high enough. Whatever you're listening to might be heard by the person next to you(they don't do a good job keeping sound inside). I would recommend them to anybody(particularly gamers).

Good quality headphones. Great sound for games and music. Also, the microphone makes my voice sound crystal clear to my friends.

These headphones, however, I can wear for hours on end with no discomfort whatsoever.A few additional pros:- The retractable mic is very nice - I feel kind of silly playing a game with no voice interaction and having a big old boom mic sticking out in front of me, so being able to tuck it away when I don't need it is useful- The cord is long and high-quality, and the fact that the longest part of it acts as an extension (the cord attached to the headphones is actually rather short - 3 feet or so, but it comes with a longer extension cord) is handy for plugging in other audio devices like my speakers from time to time. These headphones are amazingly comfortable. I had another set of "gamer" headphones that had the same style around-ear speakers and I found them to be very uncomfortable after a half hour or so. As to the quality I really like that the cord is wrapped in fabric - it feels much more durable than the rubberized cords most other devices have.- Sound quality is very nice - better than any other headphones I've used.Cons:- The mic came through very quietly at first - I had to tweak all of my audio settings in Windows toward boosting the mic gain in order to make it audible, and even then in some games it's extremely quiet. All in all I recommend this headset strongly.
