They learn tricks, play with other pets, bring in mice from the yard and destroy furniture if bored, just like the real world. You can adopt your pet or "make" your own. Pets is a great addition to the Sims 2 experience. They need to be fed, given attention, love, etc. Very fun.
I would definitely recommend getting the stuff packs to supplement the game. Very lifelike. This game is truly amazing--especially in the behaviors of the people and the pets. My only disappointment is the very limited selection of furniture and accessories to choose from to fill the houses. There are sites online where you can download new objects, but I have had a lot of difficulty getting most of them to install into the game on my mac.
And Only download a little at a time. But watch your memory or it will go slow. like the game. And be careful of what you download-may slam your game. And keep notes of the file names in case you need to remove it.
Sims 2 Pets is an endearing expansion for the Sims franchise, but Mac users beware: although Aspyr has released a patch for the Windows platform to fix the game's many bugs, there is currently (4/6/07) no patch available for the Mac. Errors include taking a puppy or kitten to work if you're interacting with them when the carpool shows up, children floating when chatting with each other, and -- when your pets retire from a job -- your Sims are silently demoted in their career path. Please release a Mac patch, Aspyr.
For example, I had an adopted pet, who wouldn't eat pet food, as a result of that, he was almost always starving. You can't have a dog and a child in the same family because they both take up so much of your attention. The game altogether adds more to the Sims2And I although I didn't have any problems installing them, the pets are way too time consuming. Another thing I didn't like about it was the fact that you can't control your pet. This game is good if you like single families but anymore then that and it'll be very hard for you to keep up.
