It's a fun game that delivers good action and an entertaining story that just makes you keep playing. I've read a few reviews of this game from people who have had a tough time with the games tone. Combine this with the decent gameplay and stunning visuals and you have a game that is well worth the 20 bucks you can get for used. Sure, it's not halo or gears, but I don't think it's trying to be. Yes, the two main characters sometimes say some really bizarre things but personally I found this incredibly amusing. And it works. I don't think the game takes itself too seriously and as a casual gamer it doesn't expect you to either.
The dialouge is just hilarious. I can't remember a game that had me laughing out loud as much as this one did. That's the trick with this game, you have to treat it with a grain of salt. I think it really adds to the games overall feel. It's fun as heck.
One of the other great things about the game is that you can earn money and use it to buy more guns and armor. I would recomend this game to anyone who likes 3rd person shooters. I rented this game, came home and played it. I loved it.
Another great thing about the game is that you can be ducking behind a barrier and just put your hand up and shoot which I haven't seen in any other game. The last great thing is that if you're next to your partner and press A they will interact with you, but if you press the Right Trigger you will wack, headbut, and hit each other in fun. I played it for a few minutes and you could already tell there where bad words in the game. I am a kid and haven't played many M games.
The graphics are great. Overall I think this is ok for kids over 11 only if you're not afraid of trash talk.
i mean i can handle a little her and there but i think every cut scene had one curse word or another. I was unnessicary and took away from the game. The game is awesome. THe coop gameplay takes the game to a whole new level i played it and beat it several times with my friends.
I don't care what anyone else says there is no need to put anything like that in a video game. If I had know it was going to be like that I would not have purchasing the game.Overall the gameplay was good so if you aren't afriad of offensive language I reccomend you buy the game. Although I loved the game the language was over the top. The Single player game is same a coop but it just isn't as fun.
It totally ruined the game having that much cursing. I would not have bought this game for my kids given what i know now though.
Just to start playing, you have to go through 4 (if I remember correctly) menu screens. Your AI partner leaves much to be desired; there are times when you'll tell him to hold aggro, only to find out that he doesn't really feel like it. It probably wouldn't have even taken that long had I actually had a human partner. If it's your first time, you'll have to watch a cut scene (which you'd probably do anyways). It's good for a run through, but after that there's not really much to bring you back (unless you're after achievements like myself). If it's your second time, you have to watch the same cut scene.that's right, there's no skipping ahead to the fun parts you sneaky tricksters. I know the game takes place with two ex-Army guys (and I know how Army guys are, being a former one myself) put into some overwhelming firefights.
Then you need to wait for the game to load. If you look to far right or left, the red arrow guiding you will disappear.and sometimes there's not even a red arrow to guide you.At times, the weaponry feels a little weak, and this leads to another of my issues: you knock someone down with a shot (say a sniper round or rifle shell), but you can't kill them until they're going through their get back up animation. It's not a problem for me now, but being a new father I'm sure in the near future it will become one. It took me five days to beat (due to other responsibilities), with a total of maybe 6-7 hours game time.
That leads to another issue; getting stuck. As for the violence, I think it's fairly tame compared to some games (namely Gears where you can chainsaw the locust with blood spattering on the screen).there's blood, but not an overabundance of it.I think my final gripe with the game is the menu screens/load and wait times. I finally got around to renting Army of Two, and will definitely recommend a rent instead of a buy. Along those lines, I had to shoot the computer at 3-4 different spot because he kept getting stuck on the level. This is a pain later on when you've got a ton of enemies shooting at you, and a dumb computer doing it's own thing, causing you to restart countless times at the last checkpoint. While the game is enjoyable, there are some things that hold it back.
During the mission, you can go "mid-mission" shopping, which is a neat idea.only it takes a while to load the screen, then you need to go through even more menu options to get what you want.Overall, I had an alright time with the game. If someone's on the ground, and I'm shooting them, they shouldn't be able to get back up.For parents, you need to know there is a LOT of cursing.
I imagine that this wouldn't be an issue in co-op, since you and your buddy could talk it out (I didn't play co-op, so I can't say for sure). It fixed itself eventually, but it was a huge inconvenience. If you're expecting a long, engaging game, look somewhere else.
I would move the stick, and the camera would shake like I was moving, but I was not moving at all. So, like a good soldier, they're gonna curse.a lot, and then some.
The story is a little thin, and I felt like it was trying to make a moral point (private military companies = evil corporations). There were a few times in the game (most noticeably the monorail level) where I myself would get stuck.
Sometimes the objectives aren't always made clear on your GPS. If not for trying to get the achievements, I wouldn't play through the game again.
The two highlights of the game are: The gun customization system that emulates RPG like leveling elements through financial resource management.Strategic use of the "aggro" system- combining suppressing fire techniques, distraction and flanking.Whole story line maybe seen as telegraphed the game features a narrative does create a set of final bosses you genuinely want to "eliminate with extreme prejudice." However, the first few bosses are merely cliched munition fodder.Combat sequences are well paced and unfold in an intuitive manner.Vehicle (hovercraft specifically) combat and parachuting sequences have a good feel to them and excellent physics but they are so easy they become quickly forgotten. One other thing of note is that this game does a good job of creating an immersive atmosphere for the Blackwater-esque corporate mercenary that is lacking in other titles of this genre. While it's no COD4 or Gears of War it is definitely exceeds the benchmarks of the average FPS titles that feature tacked-on co-op. This title initially came across as just another mediocre FPS. However, after I played through the additional down-loadable content it improved it's status markedly. It becomes readily apparent the this game was designed around the co-op experience and that's where it shines brightest.I would put the total experience somewhere between 3&1/2 and 4 stars.
