Game time 8-20 hrs a week. Dvd and BlueRay time 20 hrs a week. I give this 5 stars. We bought this in Jan 08.Today is 11/19/08 and it still works great,no console flaws to date.
As far as the compatibility issues all of our ps1 and ps2 games have worked fine. I have to admit though I am a casual gamer and media person. All you have to do though is hit o.k.(x) a couple times. The only glich we have experienced is on ps2 games it looks for a shock controller that doen't exist.
We use our ps3 numerous times a week. So I can't tell you about online gaming.
Nice going Sony.I guess they are just like microsoft. This product is very fun. I don't know. Warranty is only good for a year. I have had this system working for a year and 2 days. This system won't read any discs and it would cost 150 dollars plus shipping to fix it. I think I might just get out of this business because it's pissing me off.
I was, as was reported by many, disappointed by its upscaling capabilities of SD's, but I use my Toshiba A35 and Onkyo 805 HD DVD player for these, as they are both known to be more proficient in this area. The remote is Blue-Tooth, so I can't use it with my 880 Logitech Harmony, but I have a separate remote for the PS3, so it's fine. I must confess that it was a good Black Friday deal (this came with 15 total free BD's at Walmart), that tempted me into this purchase. I am not a gamer.
I've played probably 2 dozen movies out of 200 I own, and I've not experienced any problems. Although I care more about the actual movies, and special features that don't require BD Live, the PS3 does allow me to access those features if I want to see them, so that was a nice addition. Updates take a while, but run seemlessly. I purchased this after I purcased my first A2 HD DVD player, because I wanted to have even more variety as a hi-def enthusiast.
As of 9/2008 it decodes all sound codecs with the new firmware, and playback has been flawless so far. Caution: It does run pretty hot.If you don't mind a gaming machine amidst your other components (and that it may need to stand upright), this machine may be for you, given its upgradeability and value.
After Sony mark down the PS3.
Bargain, bargain.
still my console was cheaper.
This PS3 was a new, never used, not even a open box console.
for a 80GB.
I was about to buy one 40gb for $399.99 @ best buy until I saw this at Amazon.
I can't be more satisfied with my purchase.
$383.64 with s&h included.
Thanks Amazon.
It plays all my PS2,DVDs and BR disc. My son and I have lots of fun.
