Installs seamlessly but you have to bang the drum pads a lot harder to register the hit. Because of this the noise-canceling effects of the pads cancel out because you have to hit it harder.
The sound is decreased overall but particularly the sharp initial report is gone, and with no decrease in game playability.I have the black small pads and the drum kit also looks way better with these pads on than before. The sound of the sticks hitting the Rock Band kit was loud enough to disturb upstairs neighbors and even hurt my own ears when playing the game for any significant period of time. These pads do not *silence* the drum kit, but nothing would; they do significantly decrease the noise for me. Also the install was simple and trouble free as they fit exactly.I could not be more pleased with this product.
Also, when I removed them, they left a residue that was really tough to get off. While they did reduce noise, they caused a good majority of the drum hits to not register. At first I thought it was me, but I took them off and it was DEFINITELY the pads. I do not recommend these.
Look cool also. Placed these pads on my Rockband Drum Kit (EL Model--with Nickel Mod), and they work beautifully. Significant silencing of the drum hits. Does not seemingly result in any missed beats either (probably du to my Nickel mod).
The fact is, you have to crank up the volume so you can hear the songs over the beating of the plastic drumset. This solves that problem. The drums are just too loud, and nobody likes the sound of a wooden stick hitting plastic over and over again. Anyone who's played Rock Band knows how annoying it can be to play with the drummer. If it actually sounded like a drum it might now be so bad. Very easy to apply, it doesn't effect the playability and it dampens the noise. My Rock Band members are much happier, and so am I.
